The Cullman County Public Library System (CCPLS), a single-county public
library system serving 80,000 persons in north-central Alabama has received
authority from the Cullman County Commission to fill the following two (2)
positions and permission from NARCOG to fill two (2) positions:

LIBRARY PAGE, PART TIME, 20 HRS PER WEEK
Main Library-Information Services Department
$5.47 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Shelves materials and maintains
collections, assists in staffing Information Services Desk, assists with
implementation of children's and young adult programming. Light clerical
duties as assigned. Work includes nights as necessary and weekends in
rotation. Ability to lift loads up to 20 lbs and ability to manipulate and
push loaded book carts. Ability to utilize step stools. Ability to work well
with the public, particularly children. Ability to lift and shelve books
overhead. Ability to accurately shelf materials based on the Dewey Decimal
system and other classifications schemes. Completion of 10th grade in high
school required. Completion of high school preferred. The Public/Outreach
Services Coordinator is responsible for filling this position. APPLICATION

Office. POSITION REPORTS TO: Reader Service Coordinators under supervision
of the Head of Public and Outreach Services. POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED.

(NOTE: THIS POSITION DOES REQUIRE WORK BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9:00 A.M. TO
6:00 P.M. IN ADDITION TO SOME NIGHT AND WEEKEND HOURS. This would be an
excellent position for someone in high school or college on a cooperative
education program who can work some days during the week, particularly
someone working on a degree program in early childhood education or child
development.)

LIBRARY TECHNICIAN, PART TIME, 20 HRS PER WEEK
Main Library-Circulation/Membership Department
$5.86 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Provides support for all functions
at busy public services desk, including circulation of materials, greeting
and assisting the public, registering patrons, use of personal computers,
scanners, adding machines, and other office equipment, ability to learn use
of integrated library system, understand policies and procedures and
interpret and explain policies and procedures to the public, inventory and
collection management. Heavy computer usage. Ability to lift, shift, turn,
and carry loads weighing up to 20 lbs and manipulate and push loaded book
carts. Ability to shelve library materials overhead. Ability to accurately
shelve materials based on the Dewey Decimal Classification System and other
library classification systems. Ability to work nights and weekends in
rotation. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods. Typing and clerical
skills required. The Assistant County Librarian in conjunction with the
Circulation/Membership Head will be responsible for filling this position.

SENIOR LIBRARY AIDES
Employed through NARCOG Senior AIDES Program

In addition to county vacancies, CCPLS currently has two vacant Library Aide
positions available through the Senior AIDES program provided by the
North-central Alabama Regional Council of Governments:

Position 1 is a library aide in the Youth Services Department at the Main
Library. Work includes maintaining children's service areas, shelving
materials, and assisting with programs for children and young adults.

Position 2 is for a Library Aide to work on the Cullman County Bookmobile.
Work includes assisting in providing basic library services to all
populations via the bookmobile, including circulating materials, shelving
items, greeting and assisting the public, and working closely with
school-aged library users.

Persons seeking employment under the Senior AIDES program must be 55 or
older and meet income and other program guidelines. For more information or
